A few years back I was finally released from incessant eating.
Well, that is a bit exaggerated and sounds worse than it was. (Drama Queen.)
The reason for my statement is this: many years ago when I did my first round of nutrition and weightloss studies we were told to keep eating every three to four hours to keep insulin and blood sugar at an even level.
Drip feed the food. Never allow your client’s tummy to be empty or hungry.
Not having breakfast 01/2016 or skipping meals was a huge No No, near punishable with a jail sentence.
For years just like a Zombie on automatic, I followed their very old fashioned rule of MUST EAT EVERY 3 HOURS….MUST EAT….
l was never really hungry.
I was perhaps craving, or I was peckish, looked forward to the next taste sensation…..but not hungry.
And if I did not eat a snack, I even felt guilty, as if I had broken the rules of good eating protocol.
But now several years later and armed with new research, they UW tell us:
Sorry! (Depending on your circumstances) We were all wrong.
The latest results are in:
If, as an adult, we omit snacks, sometimes skip breakfast or even a meal (OMG!) the world will not stop and our metabolic rate will not reset to ZERO.
As a matter of fact: it is beneficial when done right. If we are talking about missing a meal or not eating for a day it is called Intermittent Fasting or IF for short. There are various ways to go about it but the subject is so big it will fill another entire separate post.
IMPORTANT: For people cheap jerseys China with type 2 diabetes and especially for children it is essential to provide regular meals. Do not allow your kids to run off to school without breakfast or snacks, as the brain fog will impair their ability to focus. Not having the right cheap jerseys nutrition as children can have possible long term problems. And for people with diabetes: if not properly supervised, skipping meals cheap jerseys or snacks can cause life threatening issues…So if you are thinking of trying intermittent fasting, do some research cheap nfl jerseys and ask your health care practitioner if it is right for your situation.
Back to us though:
If you have enough fluids, eat well balanced proper meals, (not processed pseudo food) then your blood sugar levels stay For even and you will not be hanging out for a snack.
Already many years ago we learned to take note which healthy meals keep us satisfied for longer and make them an important star in our usual menu selection.
For instance, I noticed if my lunch is a big vegetable soup with a generous slice of rye or gluten free bread, (those are mainly good carbs, by the way)…..then in two hours I am hungry.
Delicious and healthy, but not enough to keep me full all afternoon
If however I have a medium sized vegetable soup with chickpeas or lentils for added protein and fibre plus I spread the smaller sized bread with some avocado to add good fats, my blood sugar stays even. Same calories, different mix of ‘macro nutrients’.
That means a cup of tea with almond milk is all I require before my dinner comes along.
Along the way, I learned to adjust the mix of my food to 2016 keep hunger at bay for longer. And by observing what works for you, you can do the same.
If you are hungry in between meals, then of course, go ahead, have a ‘legal’ snack and enjoy.
But you do not need to eat a snack if you are not hungry.
As we age, unfortunately our insulin sensitivity dulls and it can benefit from stopping the drip feeding of food.
Keeping our stomachs free from food between meals sort of ‘re-boots’ your system.
Without going into lengthy explanations about hormones, I will simplify it: when we improve our insulin sensitivity by eating correctly and not so often, we calm its excessive fat layering activity.
And that is the actual Holy Grail. We do not want to layer fat. We want to burn it off.
And the great thing is this:
Once your body feels properly nourished with a new healthy eating plan and it is well hydrated, it will stop hassling you for in-between meals.
It is such a good feeling.
And because most of the time I do not eat between meals anymore, I am really looking forward to my main meals because my tummy is empty. Happy to eat a meal with gusto.
When Pacchetto you reach that wonderful place when your body will be happy with the way you nourish it and your blood sugars are more even, then instead of asking for snacks your tummy will finally leave you alone to get on with other things.
Unlike Princess, who has not yet reached that point and is begging for food near the treat cupboard…every 10 minutes.
