So let’s think back to your last failed attempt at losing weight.
(Or is that too painful?)
Why did you stop?
The thing is this: you’ll need to be very clear about what went wrong in the past…You don’t want to repeat the same mistakes.
Albert Einstein once said: insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different outcome.
So, try doing things very differently from the last time.
Read the points below and at the end of this post choose a new way of addressing your issue and a new wholesale jerseys way of eating to lose your excess weight.
One that makes your taste buds, your tummy and your body sing…….and pours you into those skinny jeans.
- Were you ready and 100% committed?
Without commitment and positive thoughts about the process, it wasn’t going to work.
If you are cranky about the whole thing, have negative thoughts about your new meals, feeling sorry for yourself….then you’ll have a hard time sticking to it.
Remember: healthy eating and losing excess weight is a positive, nurturing undertaking. It is NOT a punishment or a chore.
Solution: For now read, learn and pick up tips along the way until you’re ready again.
Soon I’ll hear stop you say: Yes! I am so totally ready to do this NOW!
- Was it Bad Timing?
Did you have too many challenges in your life last time? New job, new partner, moving house, cat had kittens?
If you have a choice, then start at a time when you’ve paved a clear road for this new step. However, don’t use ‘life challenges’ as an ongoing excuse to put things off, otherwise you’re never going to do it.
Decide on a 3 week stretch when you can give it your full attention and just do it.
Why 3 weeks???? You may not lose all the weight in that time…….
Depending on the complexity, it has been shown that to learn (or UN-learn) a habit we need to ‘do it’ for at least three weeks before it becomes a new behavior without causing too much frustration. Any habit. Even exercise…..
Some people on weight loss plans reported a length of 2 months before their new eating plan felt like second nature.
In my previous business I noticed that if someone was going to give up, they usually bailed out after the third week. When they went past that hurdle, the majority went right through wholesale jerseys and reached their goal weight.
Try this extremely boring, mind numbing suggestion: challenge your brain to brush your teeth with the non-dominant arm. After three wholesale nba jerseys weeks your brain will have strengthened the new nerve pathways and it will not feel weird anymore. Your arm closed was on automatic pilot for one side of teeth brushing and you created a new neural pathway for the other arm. Amazing.
Your brain might also be on automatic pilot for wrong eating habit…..Change it to the right one. Yes, it is possible.
Solution: choose a 3 week stretch in your diary when you can retrain your brain to eat differently.
- Were you always hungry?
Let’s face it: we all like to eat and hate to starve. It’s natural. Being hungry?
We just don’t like it.
When I am too hungry I look like this:
You already know that if you want to lose weight, you need to eat less calories than your current Metabolic Rate requires and increase your energy output…(.more walking, more movement….)
However, you probably also heard that not all calories are created equal.
This means: reducing calories is not the whole answer. You need to find an eating plan which includes the right TYPE of calories. Eat filling, high fibre, low in ‘grease’ calories that don’t leave you hungry the minute you get up from the table.
Choose lean proteins, either animal or plant based, minimize processed carbohydrates without fibre and add some small amounts of good fats like avocado, coconut oil, olive oil and nuts.
You’ll find an abundance of healthy, mouthwatering and amazing recipes on the web to romance your taste buds. Or have a look at my snack list to tide you over before the next meal is due.
Did you perhaps confuse cravings for hunger? Food cravings are often a sign of nutritional deficiencies, leaving your brain ‘hungry’.
Eat more ‘superfoods’ that offer additional nutrients to satisfy your health needs… such as green vegetables, berries, nuts, avocados etc.
If you’ve ‘fallen off the wagon’ because you were hungry or simply had to satisfy that chocolate craving, don’t beat yourself up and stop your plan. Get up, dust yourself off and start again. As Dr Barry Sears from The Zone Diet once said: you’re only ever one meal away from getting back to [correct eating..]
Solution: Don’t choose a restrictive plan with very low calories because you won’t be able to stick to it.
Being hungry is the number one reason people give up on their new eating plan.

Did you know that the hunger signalling area in your brain is in the same place as the thirst signal area? If your body is dehydrated, you may think you are hungry. Keep drinking water and you could find yourself less hungry.
- Did you dislike many of the foods on your last plan?
I remember joining a very reputable weight loss group in 1968. OMG-that was soooo long ago.
We had to eat tinned tuna and liver [YES, LIVER!] at least four times a week.
After Dad, just one week of that, I gave up. I mean really! Who can eat like that on an ongoing basis?
I certainly could not.
Looking at a new plan, imagine eating those meals….If you are a cheap jerseys free shipping meat lover, then a vegetarian plan is not going to do it for you. If you like cti sweet treats and are told to replace those with a celery stick, that’s also not going to work, will it?
Solution: Before committing to a new eating plan, make sure you love the recommended foods.
- Do you lose motivation when left to your own devices?
Then you may prefer the social aspect and support of a group. Try one of the meeting style options in your area.
Check out their approach and their meal plan. Ask your friends or relatives if they had good or bad experiences with a particular group.
Consider going on a plan with a good friend. You can help each other out when motivation fades.
Inspiration can come from outside, but motivation will need to come from you…..
Ever thought of online group support? Or even a one-on-one consultation over the web or in person with a skillful, experienced and kind weight loss adviser [Oh….this might be something I should offer in the future!]
Solution: if you’re not good at doing weight loss on your own, seek support. There are many awesome options out there.
- Are you time poor or can’t be bothered cooking?
If you’re too busy or can’t bear the thought best of preparing meals from scratch,…. then don’t!
In the past my company helped hundreds of thousands of people lose weight with healthy prepared meals. It works.
Imagine: no shopping, cooking or washing up. You choose meals from a menu……Sorted!
The meals arrive in their correct servings, are nutritionally balanced and all you do is eat. And pay a bit more. Yes, this option does cost more, because cooking a meal at home from supermarket ingredients is admittedly less expensive…. Just like at a restaurant, you don’t just pay for the food. It’s the labour that adds to the cost.
Even supermarkets have some really good looking, ready-made healthy meals. Add a fresh salad or steamed vegetables and voilà....a balanced meal in minutes.
Several studies have found that meal replacements are as effective as traditional home cooked meals in terms of helping people to lose weight.
Solution: if you know that you won’t have time or that you want some help with portion control, try prepared meals. They are a great option, ensuring correct servings and are usually tasty. You may need to try a couple of different suppliers before finding meals you love.
- Did you stick to the chosen plan and still not lost any weight?
It could be that the plan was not exactly right for your personal needs. We are all different and the weightloss plan needs to be flexible enough to be changed to your individual requirements.
Age, activity level, starting weight, body fat composition, male or female…..all make a big difference when choosing a program. Don’t just pluck any low calorie or non-calorie counted plan off the internet. You may not necessarily be able to lose weight with it. All that effort for nothing. Can be very demotivating .
Solution: Do you have questions about a particular one that does not work for Olson you right now? Send me a message. Together we may find out what is going wrong.
Now I go and start the next post:
Which is the best EVER weightloss plan in the entire universe?
I let you in on a disappointing secret: there isn’t one.
But you knew that anyway.
However, what I can do is to give you some excellent weight loss options using REAL FOODS that have proven to work for many others. I’ll even point out some which you probably should not try. Then it’s up to you to choose a way of eating that is right for YOU.
Because in the end: one size does NOT fit all. We are all different.
Vive la différence! 😉
See you next time….
